Event Details
Shubert Theatre and Yale Schwarzman Center present Taylor Mac and Matt Ray.
MacArthur Fellowship-winning icon Taylor Mac reunites with Obie Award-winning composer Matt Ray to present An Evening from the Queer Songbook—a presentation that invites all to reflect on queer lineage. Actor, opera singer, and drag star Le Gateau Chocolat will join Mac and Ray to celebrate on the night of the release of Bark of Millions, an original, illustrated songbook that "provides a source for poetic contemplation, a queer terroir out of which new forms of life can grow." (Vulture, NY Mag).
Inspired by queer figures past and present, the duo crafts an expansive new canon of original songs, inviting audiences into a space of reflection, community, and exuberant celebration.

About the book Bark of Millions
Bark of Millions: Queer Songs for the Living Library of the Deviant Theme is a two-volume hardcover box set by Taylor Mac and Matt Ray, scheduled for release on September 29, 2026. It serves as a companion piece to their queer rock opera of the same name.
A contribution to the queer cannon, Bark of Millions is a unique offering to the queer community, theater obsessives, musicians, performers and art book lovers. Included in the box set are a book of lyrics and a book of music lead sheets for 50 of the songs.
